ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - Listed at 331 pounds, Marcell Dareus is physically one of the biggest players on the Bills roster. On the field, that size has produced Pro Bowl numbers, leading to the team picking up his 2015 option this offseason.
But what he's done off of it may keep him from getting back on to start 2014.
Two arrests in the month of May, one on felony drug charges in Alabama, and another weeks later for alleged street racing in Hamburg, put into question how the league will react.
Following the street racing incident, Dareus was absent from OTAs, as head coach Doug Marrone said to "deal with personal issues." He returned for minicamp but hasn't spoken to the media.
If Dareus misses time, Corbin Bryant, Stefan Charles, and Alan Branch all filled his spot last season when Dareus was out.
When he is on the field, how will Dareus move on from the distractions? That all weighs on new defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz dealing with a potential big-time hole.
Monday we move back in the defense to see how the Bills will handle the loss of linebacker Kiko Alonso.
