ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Former Bills quarterback and hall-of-famer Jim Kelly announced Monday morning he's cancer free following surgery to remove cancer in his upper jaw.
He spoke for the first time since that surgery on the first day of his annual Jim Kelly Football Camp.
Kelly said he will not have to go through any radiation or chemotherapy following the partial maxillectomy and reconstruction surgery due to squamous cell carcinoma in his upper jaw.
Part of that surgery involved removing some of his teeth and a part of his jaw.
It also required a skin graft.
Kelly said he's very sore and still cannot eat solid food.
He thanked Western New Yorkers for all their prayers and support, saying he feels very blessed.
