The quarterback helped guide the San Francisco 49ers to the team's first Super Bowl appearance in 18 years. They lost 34-31 against the Baltimore Ravens.
The 25-year-old Kaepernick will receive the Coca-Cola Sports Personality of the Year Award at the dinner, held June 18th at the Riverside Convention Center.
