Finish important as Bills enter final two

  • Text size: + -

The good news came down Friday. Of course the Bills extended their lease for another decade, including seven years of an iron clad arrangement.

It's hard to believe - it was early in their current, 15 year, lease that the Bills last made the playoffs. Over the next few months, fans will extensively debate how they can get back there in the new agreement. This season has raised question marks in almost all areas of their game. Defensively, the Bills made significant strides, with four solid performances. But then came last week's 50 point embarrassment against the Seahawks - which has left the unit with a lot to prove in these final two games.

"Every week erases everything before," said Mario Williams. "I don't care about what I did before, because it's 'what have you done for me lately.'"

"It bothers you," added Kyle Williams. "Any time that more than anything it's that you're losing games and you can't find any level of consistency."

Now - what to do about this playoff drought. It's been too long for Bills fans. It's been too many years that we're sitting here talking about how the players are playing for jobs. Perhaps maybe a strong finish can pave the way for success next year. The recent history has been a rough ride for Bills fans. But at this point, finishing strong is just all they can do. It's something players have spoken about quite a bit.

"This season has been very disappointing, but we have to make sure we go out there, play for each other and play for ourselves," said Ryan Fitzpatrick. "I think it is going to be more about us and trying to end on a good note than who we are playing or the two divisional opponents that we are playing."
