Desperate vs. Desperate

  • Text size: + -

It's a tale of two teams on Sunday - two teams in just about the same playoff position. The Bills (5-7) need to leapfrog two teams to get there. The Rams (5-6-1) need to leapfrog four. It's desperate versus desperate.

"It's late in the year," said Kyle Williams. "Anybody who's on the outside looking in, or is in but right on the edge, everybody's fighting and clawing for a win.

"If you're not desperate this time of year, you're either packed up and going home or you're set," added Scott Chandler. "So there's a lot of teams in the same mode that we're in right now and that should be the way you play every game, really."

Once again, one of the key matchups for the Bills will be their availability to run the ball on Sunday. We've been talking for a few days about how important that is in these tougher weather conditions. But it takes on a new level Sunday, as they go up against a red hot St. Louis run defense. The unit is ranked 13th in the NFL and limited San Francisco's Frank Gore to less than 60 rushing yards last week.

"We're excited about it," said Fred Jackson. "To go into a game knowing that it's probably going to be bad weather, and they're going to have a good run defense, is a good challenge that you like to go into as a running back."

"We'll be a little bit different, because they haven't seen the things that we do," noted Chan Gailey. "Hopefully that creates a little bit of an advantage for us, and we'll be able to get a few more creases in there."

On the heels of a week where the Bills rushed for 232 yards - that would go a long way. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
