We have new information on why the female Siberian Husky, Shasta was shot. A nearby farmer discovered that she had killed five of his chickens and shot her.
Last Monday, we reported that the Humane Society was looking for the shooter of the family pet from Honeoye. Shasta was found Friday, June 21, bleeding from her face and front legs.
Deputies say while she was missing, Shasta entered a chicken coop and killed five chickens. The farmer discovered the dog, then shot her to get her off his property.
Shasta's wounds were all minor, and she is expected to make a full recovery.
Following the investigation, the Ontario County District Attorney ruled that there was no criminal offense.
