People from all over Western New York and across the state are at the State Capitol to rally for and against Governor Cuomo's SAFE Act.

Thursday morning, about 200 people from the Rochester area boarded buses from Henrietta for the trip to Albany. They want to get as many gun right advocates together in order to put some pressure on the Governor and lawmakers to repeal the Safe Act.

The Safe Act contains a number of firearm regulations.

As for this rally's timing, the group will greet state lawmakers as they return from an extended mid-winter vacation.

Rally organizers are hoping as many as 10,000 people, including the president of the National Rifle Association, will attend the rally.

"We did stress that we're trying to, we're not trying to be inflammatory, we're not trying to be argumentative. You know, we're not like that. What we're trying to do is create discussion to get people to see that, you know, the laws don't make sense and that they need to be repealed and or adjusted or changed," said Dave Jenkins, founder of Rochester Personal Defense.

"I believe in the Constitution and the amendments and they're starting to do and say things that make me think that they're not considering these things when they're making these laws," said Lynne Williams, member of Ontario County SCOPE. "This law that's affecting the Second Amendment is just totally against the things our fathers founded on."

There is also be a counter protest at the same time made up of people from Western New York and other parts of the state who support the SAFE Act and its ban on assault weapons.
