Proposal to Ban Concealed Weapons In County Buildings Voted Down

  • Text size: + -

A Monroe County Legislature committee has voted down a proposal to ban non-law enforcement guns from county office buildings. It was the first county-level attempt to pass gun legislation since the tragedies in Newtown and Webster.

The proposal was voted down three-to-two along party lines.

Monroe County Democrats introduced the bill early this month. It would have prohibited gun owners from carrying their concealed weapons inside county buildings.

Current policy says anyone with a concealed carry permit, with the exception of county employees, is legally able to bring a gun into county owned or leased buildings. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
