Seventy years ago four American chaplains sacrificed their lives to save US soldiers on a sinking ship.
Thursday, those chaplains will be honored at the Canandaigua VA Medical Center.
The anniversary of the sinking of the USS Dorchester was Sunday. The US Army Transport Dorchester was attacked by a German submarine while crossing the icy waters near Newfoundland.
Nine hundred were on board, including the four chaplains, who died after giving their life jackets to four helpless soldiers.
