The man who served time for killing his wife back in 1999 has been released from prison.
The State Department of Corrections confirmed that Walter Casper was released from Mt. McGregor Correction facility on December 21st.
In 2011, the New York State Parole Board sent Walter Casper back to prison for violating his parole for possession of a weapon.
Casper was released from prison in December of 2009 after serving prison time for killing his wife. Casper rolled the family mini-van over a cliff in Naples, killing Catherine Bly Casper in 1999.
Statement from Stephen Bly, Brother of Victim
"He should not ever have been released in the first place for brutally murdering my sister Cathy, and now currently the fact that he was released nine months early from his original 24 month sentence for the violation of his parole shows once again the failure of the Judicial System. In regards to my sister’s murderer and in light of current events that have taken place, the laws in New York State regarding the parole of violent felons really needs to change and it is my hope that those that have the ability to change the current laws regarding the release of those that have committed murder within our State will do so."
