Bills fans react to Brandon's new role

Bills fans have continuously called for change after yet another disappointing season. YNN's Kaitlyn Lionti spoke with fans and a former player about the change in leadership announced Tuesday.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- As Buffalo Bills CEO Russ Brandon added president to his title Tuesday, fans say they weren't exactly surprised.

"I think he's been doing the whole role for the last several years; they're just making it official at this point," said Jeff Kurczewski.

Michael Kearns said, "I think it's about time we had a full power structure where there's one person to answer to. Ralph's getting up there in age; who knows how his decision making is. Kind of gives us a head guy that shows we have something here, I don't know, I think it makes him more attractive to a coach, you know, who he's answering to."

Former Buffalo Bill Ruben Brown remembers when Brandon initially came into the organization 16 years ago.

"We'd laugh when he said his dream was to be a GM and run the Buffalo Bills and now he's running the Buffalo Bills for us. And I'm really happy to see that for him," said Brown.

Brandon says he will work to empower people in the Bills organization to do their jobs - including General Manager Buddy Nix.

Fans have mixed feelings that Nix will continue in his role with the team.

"I kind of don't agree, but, I mean, maybe there's more to the story, so you can never look too far into it," said Kurczewski.

"I think it's great, because I think Doug Whaley is an up and coming guy, and if he was still in Pittsburgh, everybody would think it'd be a great hire if he came in as GM, so I think it works," said Kearns.

Going forward, fans say they hope to see some other changes with the team.

"Nothing against Ryan Fitzpatrick, but we need a quarterback. You need a stud quarterback. They have to have the players to do what they want to accomplish," said Daniel DeMarco, another fan.

And while Brandon says he'll leave no stone unturned in taking the organization to a world-class level:

"We've heard it the last how many years though?" said Kurczewski, "I'm still gonna root for them, don't get me wrong, but I'm still skeptical."
