  • Text size: + -

One person is dead and another injured after a Friday morning crash in East Rochester.

Monroe County Sheriff's deputies say a pickup truck was heading north on Washington Street when it went through a red light. It struck an SUV heading west on West Linden Avenue around 8 a.m. Friday.

The driver of the SUV, 53-year-old John Marcaitis of Fairport, died at Strong Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the pickup truck, 47-year-old Donald Love of Hilton was taken to Strong Hospital with what are considered to be non-life threatening injuries.

A third car was damaged in the crash, but the driver was not injured.

There is no word yet on charges.

Monroe #1 BOCES confirms Marcaitis worked in the IT department at its Fairport facility. In a statement, BOCES adminstrators said they were deeply sadden by the sudden death of Marcaitis. They said he worked at BOCES from 1994 - 2005 in the Human Services Department and returned there this October. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
