Chase on Thruway Ends in Batavia

  • Text size: + -

State Police used spike strips to blow out the tires on a car troopers were chasing on the Thruway. It all started around 10:45 p.m. Monday in the westbound lanes near Pembroke.

Troopers say they saw the car going more than one hundred miles an hour. They tried to stop the car, but the driver took off.

Troopers say the car did a U-turn at the Depew/Lockport exit and started to head back east.

After using the spike strips, troopers say the driver got off the Thruway in Batavia.

That's when Batavia Police Department officers, Genesee County Sheriff's deputies, and other troopers were able to box the car in and arrest the driver, a 42-year-old Batavia man whom police say was drunk.
