The 19th Ward Community Association held its annual convention and silent auction Friday.

Neighbors, business owners, members and friends of the 19th Ward attended the convention to support their community.

Attendees took part in a silent auction and met the potential 19th Ward Community Association Officers for 2013.

"In the city, we have the community aspect. It brings us together. And we tackle issues together in the community so we can stay on the same page, so we can promote a good place to live," said LaShay Harris, 19th Ward vice president.

The 19th Ward Community Association is one of the oldest community-based neighborhood associations in the United States. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
